Investigation in Portugal

Today I had a formation, about the investigation in oncology in Portugal. The “III Jornadas – Investigação em oncologia em Portugal” was in a very important hospitalar center here in Lisbon, the IPO (Instituto Português de Oncologia).

As you might know, investing in science is not a priority in some country’s, and in mine country that’s not a exception. It’s hard for me, see so many good investigators and scientists, who are not well noted.

This morning I understand what they suffer to do the research, it’s a continuous journey, because they never know what to expect next. The works that I heard about are works with more than 3 years. 3 years of dedication, 3 years of bad nights, 3 years of investigation.

In my life I have been with many people, I have seen a lot of pathology’s and without doubt cancer is the worst. It’s “spectacular ” the forms and the metastasis of a small part of us. We produced more than 30 cancers a day, but our bodies are able to destroy them all, the problem is when our bodies fail to do it. I can’t imagine the pain and the suffer.

Let’s move on, I don’t think I’m the type of guy who likes to investigate the types of cancer, and the therapy’s for them, but in my sincere thoughts it’s one of the most amazing things to do cause we can save thousands. My country don’t invest much in science, but we have our finances to that. Just a small part of the good workers will take the next step and be able to do research in that area. After all, there’s a lot of good researchers in Portugal, and hopefully they can save people hereand all over the world.

Let’s wake up and do better!!! Just investigate.
